Way of Freedom Center
The main aim of the International Center for Historical Memory and Cooperation for Information Security "Freedom Way" is to study the lessons of the past in order to shape a secure future. The Center aims to highlight the traditions of interaction, joint struggle and resistance of the peoples of the Baltic-Black Sea and Northern regions - Ukrainians, Poles, Lithuanians, Estonians, Latvians, Scandinavians - and to popularize their common European history.
The Center's educational and research activities will provide an honest, factual view of historical and contemporary processes in Europe, especially in those regions that have been subjected to attempts at information subjugation by the Russian imperial narrative for centuries.
Historical cooperation between regions has deep civilizational roots. One of its most striking symbols is the ancient route "From the Varangians to the Greeks," which from the eleventh century connected Scandinavia, the Baltic States, the lands of modern Ukraine, and Byzantium. It was not just a trade route, but a civilizational axis that formed a common space of exchange, mutual respect, and freedom. In today's context, when new fissures are opening up in eastern Europe, this historical horizon of cooperation needs to be actualized. It can serve as a platform for cultural, educational, and informational partnerships of the 21st century.
The project is a large framework initiative that includes a number of thematic and functional subprojects. They form a mosaic of the modern European space of memory, dialogue, and information security under the common name Freedom Way.
