CIVIC ACTIVITIES

"The Ukrainian House is a well-known non-governmental organization in Lithuania that takes a very transparent and outspoken pro-Ukrainian position. In Lithuania, it is better known by its Lithuanian name - "Ukrainos Namai". But this does not change the essence of its activities. The team's baggage includes various civil actions, including protests, rallies, and pickets. One of the founders of the Ukrainian House, Oleksii Matvieiev, has already been called a "provocateur hunter" by both his friends and unfriendly observers. In fact, he has managed to unite Lithuanians near the Ukrainian House to help catch "offenders of decency." Of course, this is a joke, because in reality, Oleksii's team makes sure that rascist ideologues, propagandists, and provocateurs from culture and show business do not enter Lithuania. Thanks to their activities, they managed to stop several performances and disrupt the tours of pro-Kremlin performers.

  • One of the most significant and well-known events throughout Lithuania is the March for Ukraine. This is a grand event that gathers thousands of participants of different professions, religions, gender, age, all united by a sense of conscientiousness, solidarity and friendship with Ukrainians under its flags and torches. The procession takes place once a year and always on the day of the start of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Much of the work of the Ukrainian House is related to the involvement of Ukrainian youth living in Lithuania. The vast majority of them are students and schoolchildren. Another co-founder of the Ukrainian House, sculptor and, more recently, school teacher Petro Pyrohov, takes care of students studying at the International Ukrainian School in Klaipeda and Vilnius. He tries to convey emotions and information through the language of posters and art.
Another very active member of the Ukrainian House is Valentyn Odnovyun, a photographer and artist. His protest photos are known throughout Europe. Some of his works were awarded the highest prizes at prestigious professional competitions. This helps people to better understand the essence of the Kremlin regimes of different times and stand with the struggling Ukraine.
Another active person is Mykola Dziadzin, the fourth co-founder of the Ukrainian House in Lithuania. He managed to bring together a large number of older people who still remember the Soviet era and who fought against Bolshevik ideology and the Russification of Lithuania.
